VIEWS FELLOWSHIP

an experiential learning programme

VIEWS Fellowship is an experiential learning programme for young professionals and students from India and abroad having a deep interest to work in the social sector.

The Fellowship period, which is a one-year intense rural immersive programme, comprises not only the capacity-building of the fellows, but it also hones their skills to lead development projects for social and economic development. The Fellows are placed in villages where they live with the community and learn about inclusive grassroots development through shared knowledge and the ongoing projects of VIEWS.

VIEWS has in-depth expertise on working at the grassroots level both in rural and urban areas. With an objective to improve the lives of the most disadvantaged section of society, it has chosen to work in urban slums and the remotest villages. This makes VIEWS a suitable place for young professionals and students to learn and experience rural development.

Student exchange programs may still be at its infancy in Universities in Odisha, but the wind of student social responsibility is fast gaining grounds. For the fourth consecutive year, international students from the Virgnia Tech and University of Wisconsin came down to  Odisha and involved with students of the Ganjam district and together carried  out several developmental projects in the area.

The seven students who reached Odisha and worked here for over 40 days involved with the local students to implement projects on sanitation, personal hygiene, youth empowerment and signature campaigns.

For six weeks, they conducted spoken English classes, computer literacy classes, exposure to higher education through institution visits, and micro-projects- all of which were led and implemented by the local students.

VIEWS ensures the comfortable stay of the Fellows in the rural setting with a living stipend and mentorship for professional development.
