Women in the operational areas were trained on how to process the tomatoes in order to prepare tomato sauce. The training was imparted by experts at the horticulture department. Besides the preparation of the product, the participants were taught on how to properly bottle and package the product for better marker value. VIEWS also provided them with a machine to help them process the products. The training has not only benefitted the farmers who were growing tomatoes but not able to store them for longer because of the poor shelf life of the product but also turned to be livelihood alterative for scores of women who used to otherwise idle around during the afternoon. The finished products are now marketed in the nearby villages and towns.
