Empower Women

Create Alternative Livelihoods through
Self-Help Groups

GENESIS

VIEWS was founded in 2002 by a group of youth in Odisha who initially carried out relief and rehabilitation work after the 1999 Super Cyclone in the state with Lutheran World Service (India) and FMM Social Service Society, Gopalpur on Sea. The experience and exposure made them realise the need for a committed local organisation to continue working for the critical social issues plaguing the underprivileged communities.

Our focus areas

VIEWS has demonstrated models to address critical issues of poverty in Odisha. We have strong community-based institutions, committed staff members, thematic expertise and long-term collaboration with Government and international agencies to help us create lasting impact at the community level. The VIEWS strategic Plan 2020-2025 builds upon our achievements in the past over 14 years to consolidate and deepen our work with the communities and widen our reach to new communities in the remote areas of Odisha. Our work will continue to respond to the urgent needs of the communities. The strategic plan of VIEWS is to understand the interconnectedness of development problems and find their solutions. Women’s self-help groups (SHGs) and strong community-based institutions, promoted by VIEWS, own and manage the development initiatives in the village are the pillars of our works.
